We started around 2:00 and the kids had fun making forts, eating, playing, eating, going to the playground, and eating at the clubhouse for a Chinese New Year party. We ended around 7:00 and the kids were still not ready for their friends to leave. I am so grateful for good friends.

I decided to celebrate bubble wrap appreciation day just for fun. We went out to eat. Of coarse we popped bubble wrap. We danced on it, we popped a bunch at a time, one at a time, rolled tennis balls over it and what ever other crazy idea they came up with.

Poke-A-Dot Blankie

Last year, Megan and I went to Joann Fabrics. She saw this poke-a-dot material and wanted it. She wanted to know if Grandma Nancy would make it for her. I told her probably. Every time I asked her what she wanted Grandma Nancy to get her for Christmas, she told me a poke-a-dot blankie. Well, Grandma came through with the blankie and Megan loves it. Can you tell?

We did fireworks on New Year's Eve. I had a lot of fun playing with my camera too.

Thanks to Groupon, I was able to take the kids to see the Butterfly Museum. I loved it and could have stayed longer but the girls kept complaining about how hot they were and Megan wanted her sippy cup that was in the car.
I was surprised by the different shapes of the cocoons.

12-25-11 Christmas

Christmas sooooo fun this year. I think part of it was the cooler weather we had in Texas for once. I actually wore a hoodie a few times. But the best part was my mom being here. I love when she comes. The girls were spoiled by everyone.

My mom made me a Bears Blanket.

Michael got a Cowboys Blanket. I think for the first time ever, he said that he loved a gift.

The girls love paper folding. I have them all over the place. So glad that they like something that I did when I was young.

Uncle Mike built the girls this table and chairs for their American Girl Dolls. Aunt Laura made us earrings. They are so pretty. (need to get a picture)

We spent the rest of the day playing, taking naps, and making gingerbread houses.

Every year my mom makes matching PJ's for us. This year she made them for the dolls too! The girls even got a stuffed moose for them and a smaller on for the dolls.

Since we had our season passes, we figured we may as well use them one more time. I always wanted to go see the lights and shows for Christmas.

My favorite part was taking pictures with many of the characters.

While we were there, we saw some shows, the kids went on some rides, and Michael, Kaitlyn, Michelle and I went on the Steel Eel. Kaitlyn tried to raise her hands. She's crazy. Both of the girls said they never want to go on it again.

Elf on the Shelf

The girls have been wanting an elf on the shelf. My mother-in-law gave me this elf and the kids wanted to know if Santa could bring her to life. So, Michelle wrote a letter and we signed it.

She came to life and her name is Ellie. Her are 2 places we found her.

One of the church's around us put together a video and a live nativity. We went went some of our friends.

In one of the "towns" you could help make baskets, pet goats, put beads on strings and a few other things.

Here is one of the Roman soldiers that checked to make sure you had your paperwork, which was given to you at the beginning.

Here is the angel telling us of Jesus' birth.

There were other places to stop and each child was able to "buy" a toy or seashell that they were able to take home. A small choir sang as you went to look at the stable scene.

At the end of the journey, each family recieved popcorn and an ornament. I would definitely go again next year.

Michelle was in a musical called Dig It. About a week before, I helped make this background. It was so much fun.

Michelle was lucky enough to get a speaking part. She loved being a skeleton. I also was able to help paint the skeleton faces.

Kaitlyn and I were talking about what happens when a person dies. I told her that I don't want to leave this earth, but when it is time for me to go, I will be excited to see my dad. I was about to say more names, but she covered her ears and made noise. I asked her why she did that and she said that she didn't want to be sad because she missed him. Then she proceeds to tell me that she looks at his picture every morning so she can remember him. I know I think of him everyday, but I didn't realize the effect this still has on my girls.

My mom decided to surprise my girls with matching Halloween outfits for the girls dolls. She actually sent them before Halloween but this was the first time I was able to take pictures of them. Megan's outfit was also made by my mom.

Michelle had a fun birthday by going to her best friends birthday party. Then we celebrated. Michelle loved her gift card from Aunt Laura and Uncle Mike,

We had so much fun celebrating birthdays! Kaitlyn turned 7 and Michelle will turn 10 in November. The girls wanted a Halloween costume party so they got it. Here are a few of them on a man hunt. Well, actually a boy hunt. Dawson was our only boy, but was very popular.

Mummy Candy

My mom found this on a web site and I decided to do it with my kids. It was a lot of fun! Cut 12x12 paper into 1 inch strips. You will need 3 per mummy.

Take a marker or stamp pad and get the two long edges colored.

Tape three strips together. Then tape the long strip to the back of the kit kat and start wrapping.

Tape the end of the strip to the back. Then add eyes like these.

Then you'll have cute mummies like these.

Fort Bend County Fair and Daisy Scouts

Michelle's art work was entered in the Fort Bend County Fair by her art teachers. She won second place and was very excited!

We went on one ride called Zero Gravity. For some reason, the pictures don't want turn they way I want them to, but basically this is how we were in the ride. Here is a link to what it does. Around 45 seconds is when it is at the top.

I loved having a monkey on my shoulder. Isn't she cute?

Then off to a Daisy Scouts field trip to the animal shelter. We loved petting the animals.

But this cat was by far the most fun Kaitlyn had while there. She would move the strips of fleece and the cat would attack it.

Fire station and smoke house

Kaitlyn's Daisy Troop went to a fire station to learn about fire safety and look at the fir trucks and stuff. One of the cool things was this trailer. It actually had two small levels in it. It had rooms in it too. They put a smoke like substance in there and have the kids get out safely. It was really cute.

We love going to Dewberry Farm. We have gone for 4 years now. Here are some of our pics.

Because of the drought, there were no pumpkins on the vine. The kids still loved it. In fact, I don't think they noticed that the pumpkins were shipped in.

For our anniversary which was back in July, we went to Austin to see BYU vs. UT. We went to the tail gate party.

Got my face painted even tho I am not a true BYU fan. I did it for fun.

We meet up with one of Michael's roommates from college who was my good friend too.

Megan found a skirt at Old Navy that she wanted but it was $16.50 and I couldn't see spending that much on it. So I decided that I would make it for her, but before I had the chance to buy material, I found this one on sale at Target for $4.50. I am still unsure of it, but the kids around her wear them and Megan loves it. So, why not? She likes to wear her leggings pushed up.

This is how she is supposed to wear it. I don't care either way is good for me.

Labor Day

On Labor Day, Michelle and Kaitlyn were sick so I decided to work one of the many projects I had. After 4 years, our kitchen chairs were looking gross as you can see.

So last week I went to Ross and found a shower curtain. I was excited about the price especially since I KNOW they will get ruined again.

Here is the finished project. I love the pattern. I know I should have picked a darker color but they made the room look heavy and this is what I could find that was cheap.

We went swimming on Saturday and I was surprised at how cold it felt with the wind blowing from Hurricane Lee. In the first picture, I was trying to take a picture of Michael and Megan, but I got much more!

There were two layers of clouds. The upper ones were pretty and multiple colors. The bottom ones looked heavy and dark. The second set was moving quickly.

We went shopping the first day and relaxed. The second day we went to the National Museum of the Pacific War.

We also went to the Admiral Nimitz Museum.

8-4 Sea World Day 2

We went back to Sea World to swim again. Then we took the kids on some rides. We also saw a ski show. We were so uncomfortable (107 degrees again). We bought drinks and ice cream but it only helped for a few seconds. This picture of Kaitlyn gives you an idea of how bad it was.

Kaitlyn has always been a climber. So she asked if she could climb the rock wall at the mall. She was able to climb 3 times and took full advantage of it. This is her at the top on her first try. I bet her Aunt Laura is going to be so happy.

Michelle tried but her fear of heights got to her. I was just proud that she tried.

Our Trip Day 1 and 2 (June 15 &16)

We arrived in Chicago after plane delays and turbulance. My mom met us there, we ate and we went to her house. For some reason my mom pulled out a dress that I wore when I was little that she made. Megan loved it. Especially when she twirled.

The next day we went to build a bear. My mom always wanted a white sox one, so my kids helped her make and dress her bear.

The malll had a double decker merry go round which the kids HAD to go on.

Legoland - Day 3 (June 17)

If you love legos or have seen how much work goes into one, then you would appreciate this place. I had a lot of fun. It is in a suburb of Chicago.

There is an area that had a lot of the major Chicago buildings and attractions built out of legos.

Then there is a jungle to walk through. There were monkeys, spiders, frogs and dragonflies.

Day 4 - American Girl Doll Store and Lunch 6-18

Talk about a dream world for little girls. The American Girl Store makes everything look so beautiful. My mom promised Kaitlyn a doll if she took care of a cheaper version like the one Megan has. Kaitlyn did a great job so she got her new doll, Crystal, and we went for lunch. The room was beautiful and the food was actually good. The dolls got their own chair, plate and cup to use while eating.

First you get cinnamon rolls and then this plate comes out.

Megan picked a pizza but ended up eating mine.

Day 5-> Father's Day 6-19

Michael wasn't with us for Father's Day and my dad is in heaven, so it was kind of sad. But we went to church and then saw Debbie. She has a lot of his stuff still in their house. On of the first things that I noticed was this bird feeder that my friend and I built at least 14 years ago. No birds ever went in it, but he still kept it. The kids and I were able to look through some of his things. Many things brought back memories.

The backyard is where the kids seemed to have the most interest. In this picture the kids are looking at a rock that my dad said was his favorite. Under a plant close to this rock are some of his ashes. It was just a sweet space.

After that, we went to the Kankakee River. Michelle really misses her P-Pa. This picture was not posed, but completely reminds me of what my dad would do.

I used to go to Santa's Village when I was a child with my family. It reopened this year and is a lot smaller, but we had a blast. I wish we could have gone back. Megan looking cute.

Day 12 -> Family Get Together and Dance Party

Almost every time I go to Chicago, we have a family party. I love seeing everyone and having the cousins play together.

Day 13 -> My Mom's 60th Birthday

My mom's birthday was a lot of fun. We started off by opening a few of her 60 presents. Then we went to see Cars 2. Then my mom, my girls, Sam, Stef, Donna and I went to the ice rink. Donna and my mom didn't skate. I think my kids did great.

We ate at Famous Dave's and then we home. Kaitlyn and Abby waiting for present time again.

This was the last gift. It was a book that Laura and I made with birthday wishes from many friends and family.

On our last full day together, we went to the park.

The next day we left early. I had a great vacation. But then I needed a long nap.

Michael and I went out to celebrate our 12th anniversary which is 7-10. When we got back, we took the kids swimming. I wish I had a better camera for swimming pictures, but these will do.

Shooting hoops is Michael and Michelle's favorite thing.

Megan was told by her Grandma Nancy that she could get a doll like her sisters if she wore big girl underwear and didn't have accidents. Well, today she did it. Here is her new doll.

We went to Vida Loca for dinner. The staff sang to her and she got a free dessert!

Then off to Chuck E. Cheese's. Megan is trying to show me how many years old she is on her fingers.

Present time was quick. She ripped open everything. I had to stop her so I could get pictures.

I made this. I know it's not perfect, but she loved it. I wanted to buy one from a store, but I couldn't because her Aunt Jessica made her daughter a rainbow cake, so I had to do it too.

Megan is still not potty trained. So we have been giving her incentives to go. Here is a monkey she received for going on the potty. She loves it.

Good-Bye Butterflies

Megan is trying to hold a butterfly.

Michelle got one to sit on her hand before it left.

Poor Kaitlyn didn't have any luck on her hand. If you look closely to the left, you can see a blur. That is the butterfly.

Megan held one on a flower.

Finally Kaitlyn got one on a flower too!

We miss the butterflies but they were soooo much fun while they were here.

Michael went back to Utah for work. He stoped by our old house and took a picture. It looks pretty much the same except they took out a bunch of trees.

Here are the Easter dresses my mom bought the girls. It was too sunny and the girls could barely keep their eyes open.

We went to church, opened gifts, did another egg hunt, and colored eggs.

Easter Bunny

Megan was terrified of the Easter Bunny. The first picture of her (not shown) she was on my lap. It took me a while to get her to settle down. I couldn't believe how scared she was. I finally got her to take a picture with her sisters.

Butterflies

On 4-20-11, we recieved a package from my mom. It was a butterfly kit. It has 2 cups with 5 caterpillars each. We did this before and it was so fun.

Here is one cup.

Megan loves to look at them. We keep them on our kitchen table so we can watch them while we eat.

Kaitlyn's Plants

For some reason, Kaitlyn keeps coming home with plants or seeds. She wanted to see if she could grow them. So, luckily, I had a pot and we put a bean plant, corn and a sunflower in there. She loves to water them and watch them grow. I am hoping at least one grows.

Easter Party 4-16-11

The girls were allowed to invite one friend each. We had pizza.

They found 56 eggs each.

But the best part was the water fight. It was a little cold, but the kids didn't seem to mind.

Disney On Ice

On 4-15-11, we went to Disney On Ice with Kaitlyn's Daisy Troop. It was Toy Story 3. It was great except the ending. We loved the music.

I normally don't get excited about how much I saved or spent. But today I was happy. I bought all of this. . .

3 packages of 8 count Bounty
3 boxes of Puffs
4 Herbal Essences Conditioner
2 Dawns
2 Bags of M&M's
2 little packages of Turtles (filler item)
2 rolls of Mentos (filler item)
OH, and a toothbrush
For $27.13 plus I got $11 in Extra Care Bucks
(Some items not in picture.)

Oh, and for those wondering why I need all of those paper towels. I am working on food and other necessities storage. In our church, we are encouraged to have at least a 3 month supply. Many people have a year supply.

Front Yard

This year Michael gave in to my whinning and let me remove items from our front yard. We removed all of ther small bushes that were on the left hand side. I am a little worried about where the frogs and lizards will hide.

I removed a small bush and a large bush and planted a lot of flowers. (Well, at least for us.)

Dress Up

On Sunday, our home teacher came over. In our church, part of the responsibility of the men is to watch over the members of the Church. Home teachers visit their assigned families at least once each month to teach and strengthen them. Home teachers establish a relationship of trust with these families so that the families can call upon them in times of need. Anyway, our home teacher is awesome. His lesson included the girls dressing up. They loved it.

Michelle's Surgery

Michelle's surgery was March 2. We arrived at the hospital at 9:00am and she didn't go in for surgery until 1:00pm. I felt so bad for her since she hadn't eaten anything since the night before.

The surgery went perfect and actually was supposed to take two to two and a half hours but only took one and a half. Michelle in recovery.

It was a long day. We were told that we might have to stay in the recovery room all night because there were no rooms. But about 8:00pm, we finally got one. Michlle is talking to Grandma Nancy in our room.

Hospital Outfit

Back in 2009, Megan had surgery at Texas Children's Hospital. The little ones wear yellow as you can see.

Michelle wanted an outfit for her American Girl doll, so I called the hospital and they guessed that Michelle would wear green. So, here is what I made. Don't look to close to the stitching but I think it came out good for my first time trying to make a doll outfit. What do you think?

Valentine's Day

Michelle got a new shirt for Valentine's Day.

Kaitlyn got an outfit. Hers has hearts and the word love, so to her it was perfect for Valentine's Day. (Plus, her favorite colors are yellow and orange.)

Grandma Nancy bought the girls nightgowns with matching ones for a doll.

Or in Megan's case, the extra nightgown went on her dog, Woof Woof.

After the older girls went to sleep, I saw Megan dragging toys and blankets through the house. When I didn't see her anymore and it was quite, I found her in our front closet playing. Looks comfy.

Michelle's 1st Pair of Glasses

Like most pictures of people with glasses, this one doesn't show how adorable she is in them. They are a light purple/pink color. She is so excited that she can see. She likes to comment on how her "new world" looks compared to her old one.

Megan's Big Girl Bed

Megan got her big girl bed finally. She is the one that I worry that most. She is such a trouble maker. So instead of at two, she got it at 2 years 7 months.

Megan wouldn't go in the bed until Michael got in it first. Then she loved it.

She slept through the night.
